This past weekend was spent helping the boy move some essential furniture out of my house and into his swanky new apartment in Toronto. I won't lie, and I've never made any secret of it, I was glad to lose his futon that had taken up space in my living room. It didn't work with any of my “decor” (admittedly, it's much different than the boy's tastes), it was too big and ended up just becoming another piece of furniture that I had to vacuum cat fur off of constantly.

Saturday was spent deconstructing the couch, his desk, and getting all his stuff down into the foyer which I emptied out for him, so on Sunay we could slide everything into the back of the moving van and drive to Toronto without missing our one hour service elevator envelope. We moved like ninjas, quickly, and efficiently. Because of the time we spent the day before getting everything ready and prepared to carry out, there was minimal chaos, even with the snow and the cold.

Monday night I did a little bit of rearranging of my living room and I have to say I feel so much more comfortable in it, just getting that big futon out of here. What I do miss is having the boy around everyday, but I understand that work calls and commuting to Toronto from St. Catharines would not have been an option. At the least we'll always have weekends.

    Ouch

It's like every single muscle fiber in my legs are made of wood and pain.

I must keep reminding myself that working out will be worth it in a few months if I can keep doing it consistently.

Dang, I'm not on the list, but I wish I were…

Heroes came back last night. I'm not usually a TV person, except for the occasional Law and Order: OMGWTFBBQ. I just leave the channel on HGTV and the Food Network for the most part, and I admit there are a few shows that I love there. I dislike a lot of new dramas and sci fi shows, so I seldom bother with the lot. I make an exception for Heroes though. That's the comic book geek in me.

I want to have super powers. Who doesn't, really? The best I can do is be the best me I can be, and one of the ways to get on that road is to join the gym. After thinking about it for weeks, debating whether I could get a decent workout at home, or if a gym would motivate me better, I walked down to the YMCA and picked up a membership.

This morning was the first time I went. In fact, it's the first time in over two years that I've worked out at all. I totally skipped physiotherapy after being hospitalized (see kids, WoW can be bad for you!), and I've been making excuses as to why I shouldn't work out. I did a few stretches, reminding myself and my body how much I missed yoga, and got right on the track. The total score for today was 2 kilometers, in about 15 min.

I'm not going to stress myself out right off the bat. I'm going to ease into the whole workout routine. After all, getting my ass out of bed before 7:30 is just not cool, not cool at all. But it'll be worth it if I can get back into shape in a few months. I'm planning on working out every two days, and see how it goes from there.

Right now, I feel pretty good. Who needs superpowers anyway. :p

    Hilary for president

Senator Hilary Rodham Clinton is now making a bid for the White House. I am not an American, and though I’m not exactly fond of George W. Bush, I don’t hate him like many liberal-minded people do. I’ve been keeping up on the US situation and observing sort of passively with a “let’s see what happens next” sort of attitude. Having a female US president would be highly intriguing. Canada already went the chick Prime Minister route, but Kim Campbell wasn’t elected to office. She simply replaced PM Brian Mulroney who stepped down for failing so much. She in turn, continued to fail.

The other democratic candidate who recently announced his presidential plans is Barack Obama who is the son of a white woman from Kansas and a black man from Kenya. But they never say he’s a white guy. I suppose it’s still all about the colour of your skin in the news.

I've been feeling pretty freaking miserable all week. Not only have I been accosted by gross PMS (worse than normal), in addition to the headaches, I've been feeling just like I'm a brink of a cold. I've been working a little later than normal hours and I committed myself for work this weekend, as well I just realized I have to pay about $500 worth of bills before the month is up. I swear, I need to get this house more energy efficient. So excuse me while I make spaghetti, turn on HGTV and mindlessly level my Blood Elf priest to level 20 for the rest of my Friday night. If I hadn't sworn off alcohol for a month, I'd be all over that shit because nothing is more fun than drunken WoW.
