    Plaster

I finally took a look at the damage on my living room ceiling. I should have done this a long time ago. I don't know what I've been afraid of. I'm sure a lot of that had to do with procrastination and laziness on my part. The verdict is… drumroll please…. it's not that bad. It looks worse than it is. The paint has peeled and some plaster has cracked but the drywall is intact. There does not seem to be any sag, or mold, or any other indications of serious water damage other than the peeling paint and some discolouration. This can be easily fixed with some plaster and a can of ceiling paint.

I handed my contractor a cheque for his deposit. I finally decided on a guy who was registered with the BBB (Better Business Bureau). We start on my bathroom in about three weeks, which is perfect.

Anyway, it's 2:30am, I have a very busy day tomorrow. I spent the last hour or so taking the garbage out. Yeah, an hour 'or so'. This involved cleaning out the kitty litter, clearing some stuff out of the fridge (ewww, rotting ricotta cheese), breaking down some styrofoam for recycling, and then taking about 5 bags off my porch, down the icy steps, through ice and slush and rain (gawddamit!!!), to the curb in front of my house.

And it's times like this when I think home ownership is not that cool.
