    Latte sunday

My weekend was brought to you by the beverage below:

    hoegaarden

I had two of these, forgetting that I am simply an alcohol weakling nowadays. I was hungover Friday night, all day Saturday and I’m pretty sure I’m still feeling the effects today. Yes, I know that is pathetic, but as much as I’d like to, I can’t argue with chemistry. I just suck at drinking.

So Saturday I spent in detox mode. I had a cheese omelette in the morning (cage free organic eggs ’cause that’s supposed to make me feel more ethical or something). I made gazpacho and it was so good I pretty much ate the whole thing in a day.  I also loaded up on green tea, fruit and almonds but it didn’t really help so I was reduced to popping Advil. I sat in front of the telly and nerded out with  an extended edition Lord of the Rings marathon. I caught Bret McKenzie being an elf in Return of the Kings… made me do a double take, as I wondered wtf is with the fruity elf calling out to Arwen “My lady, we must not delay…” and realized that he looked awfully familiar. Quick research to confirm my suspicions brought me to an elf named Figwit. This site makes  me glad that I wasn’t born a fangirl.

I finished the night nursing a headache and rereading passages of a copy of Lord of the Rings that I had personally annotated in high school. I realize that I’m coming out as an old school Lord of the Rings fan.. you know the type that knew the name of the elf that Arwen replaced in Fellowship of the Rings… and also the type who once knew word for word the exact throw-down Eowyn used on the Lord of the Nazgul.

Today was more of the same. I woke up with a headache, again, and felt useless until I decided to get out of the house in the middle of the afternoon and go for a soy caramel machiatto. I feel a lot better with caffeine in my system but now here I am being useless in front of the computer. I was supposed to clean my basement, but I can’t even bother doing the dishes.

Xbox is in it’s proper place!

I don’t remember if I mentioned in this blog or not, but one of my Christmas presents from the folks was a 32″ Panasonic plasma television. I don’t see much of a difference from my old 27″ Sony Trinitron CRT, though new technology is always fun.  Today, I finally got around to hooking up my Xbox 360 to it. It was a little annoying, because it involved me moving my modem and router to a new position closer to my TV. After a few minor annoyances I finally got the router up and going and the Xbox 360 is now connected to the internet.

It doesn’t seem like much, but for some odd reason I feel very accomplished.  This day deserves it’s own blog post!
