This is more practicing with digital painting. I’m trying to get colour, line and drawing technique down before I start pushing things with composition and posing.
Front-on portrait shots can actually be pretty difficult to draw and render. You have to consider symmetry, and lighting. For me it’s a challenge to do a stylized portrait image; capturing the spirit and the likeness of the subject, keeping facial features anchored where they are supposed to be, eyes pointing in the right direction, and once colour is added, making it look alive and not completely flat.
