Inktober 2019 – Week One
Day 2: Prompt “Mindless”
Dolls are mindless. They’re a construct made of plastic, nylon, and polyester, molded to appear as idealized somewhat human creatures. They are pretty, and hollow or filled with materials, and we project onto them emotion.
When I was young, I used to have those dolls that closed their eyes when you tilted them. This doll’s eye was broken. Also it would look like it stared at you where ever you were in the room. One night, I couldn’t sleep and I didn’t like how it stared at me so I knocked it off the dresser. It fell on the floor facing away from me towards the wall. I think I dozed off after but I might have awakened sometime in the middle of the night. The doll was on the floor where I had knocked it… And looking right at me.
